To begin, invitations are the natural starting point. What better way to say, "Come on over!" than with the RED, WHITE, and BLUE? Take a small flag, pin a white note card to it, and print in red and blue all the party details. Be sure to include party details, special instructions, and a map to your party location. These invitations may be mailed in standard envelopes or they may be hand delivered.
Have plenty of small flags on hand, because they are a great way to decorate. Include yellow ribbons, and consider a banner which cam be made at home or ordered. Line your drive with the flags, and put one outside your door.
Serve red punch. A simple red velvet cake (or white cake with lots of red food coloring) in a sheet pan works very well. You can melt white frosting and pour it over the top to form a flat canvas for art work. Use Twizzler strings to make stripes on the cake. Take almond bark, melt it, and add lots of blue food coloring to make it rich blue, pour a thin layer onto wax paper. When it is almost cool, cut it into the proper size square for your cake. Finish letting it harden, and then carefully peel it off the wax paper. Place this in the corner of your sheet cake pan and use white frosting and a fluted tip to pipe tiny white stars onto the blue square.
